- People walked into DC wanting money
- Promised money but wouldn't get it until 1945

- Sad because it was former military members who wanted money to put food on the table

- all involved in the Bonus Army issue
- Macarthur used tear gas and whatnot
- Hoover supported Macarthur
- Eisenhower later wrote/criticized Macarthur because he treated the veterans wrongly

- priming the pump was putting a lot of money into the economy to prime it
- What were some of the reasons the New Deal was challanged?
- Created a very powerful president that led Congress, this was a violation of checks and balances
- It was a radical departure from Laissez-faire ideas. Created a "big government"
- Some acts appeared interfering and at worst inconstitutional
- Hevy debt burden - the US was engage in deficit spending and this was unhealthy for the economy in the long run
