What was the New Deal (1st and 2nd) and its goals (3 R's)? Why did people criticize the New Deal? Why FDR upset with the US Supreme Court was and what did he do to try to solve this issue? How did the New Deal help: unemployed-the CCC helped unemployed people get back to work, they had to join a peace army, men in the CCC received $30 per month, made 97,000 miles of road, planted 3billion trees. FERA- gave money out to the states who gave it to people who need money it also gave food clothing and jobs to people. PWA- passed June 19, 1933, built the Oregon capital building and a New York bridge, it did not work cause the building that were built because the house were to expensive for them. Farmers- factory workers/labor-FLSC -increased minimum wage and improved working hours. 40 hors per week and 40 cents for minimum wage. Excluded women and African American from working. It made it so children under the age of 14 could not work.banks/business/stock market- glass-segal act/allowed federal reserve to regulate interest rates. Tried to stop deflation, expanded the Federal Reserve ability to offer rediscounts on more types of assets. Home owners- elderly- Native Americans- IRA: could manage their own land in 1933, could self govern themselves, and reversed the Daws Act, WPA- Helped to feed childeren, redistribute cloths. Helped fund many things like arts history and culture of America. Gave jobs to thousands of people. Relief, Recovery, Reform- Banking holiday closed all banks march 6th. money was given to guild hundres of thousands of miles of roads, thousands of school and thousands of playing feilds. Relief for the people. Reform the banking stock market system, Civil Works Administration- HIred approximatly 4 million people. Dole- Welfare Check.- created construction jobs for people building dams roads and buildings. unsuccessful after 6months. FDR-
FDIC- Made individuals deposits more safe. Kept americans confident in their banks. It insured deposits in banks and limits the effect on our economy when banks intuition fell. Still successful today. Hundred days, passed 15 major bills.
