FBP( Free Blog Post) Alcatraz takeover

Have you ever heard of Alcatraz? If you have it was probably exaggerated as a big scary jail place for the worst criminals.Truth is it wasnt always a prison. It was called home by many Native Americans.40 years ago from today(eleven twenty) a number of Native Americans, mostly from college, boated to the desolate Island of Alcatraz and started a 19-month unarmed occupation which captured the world's attention. The Native Americans were strongly angered about all of the broken treaties, broken promises and termination of tribal areas. These Native Americans held Alcatraz from November 20, 1969, to June 10, 1971. They had no phones, running water, or electricity for a partial time. They were led by Native American Richard Oakes.
