Edward Kennedy

Today, August 26, i heard that Edward Kennedy died. He is the brother of former president, John F. Kennedy. Edward Moore Kennedy, aka Teddy, was born on February 22, 1932. He was the last of nine children in the Kennedy family.Edward Kennedy's first prominent was when he was 30. His brother, John, was made president so Edward kept his senate seat. When Teddy was 31, John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Texas. It was a very sad day for all Americans. Just five years later, his brother Bobby was assassinated. This was the beginning of the Kennedy curse. Other deaths in the family included Teddy's nephew in a plane crash. Another member of the Kennedy family was killed in a skiing accident.In the 1960's, he was in a plane crash. His back was broke in the accident. Following this accident, he was always in a lot of pain. Some of the pain he experienced, he brought onto himself. He started drinking heavily and got into a bad divorce. He was often in the tabloids.In the 1960's and 1970's, Teddy made his mark on the US senate. He was a proud liberal. He was called the champion of voting and civil rights. In 1980, he decided to run for president. Teddy didn't win the election. This was partially because of an earlier event that haunted him. Edward was in a car crash in 1969. He drove his car off of a bridge and Mary Jo Kapeckne was killed. She was a former aid to his brother Bobby. Teddy fled the scene, a mistake that he couldn't overcome.He didn't give up after that. Teddy stayed focused and mastered the senate. He made his mark on government policy. Kennedy for for things like workers rights, leading on education and health reform, and immigration reform. Teddy did a lot of really great things for the senate. Edward Kennedy was referred to as the last lion in the senate.In the last couple years, Edward Kennedy was remarried and adding to his list of accomplishments. He got involved in the presedential election. Teddy had a seizure and was then diagnosed with brain cancer. Despite his sickness, he ignored the doctors and continued to help in the healthcare reform.Edward Moore Kennedy died last night at his home in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts after a long battle with cancer. He was 77 years old. Teddy had many great accomplishments in the senate and was just a great man to look up to. Edward will be greatly missed.
