Dwight D. Eisenhower was a five star general in the American Army. I thought this was a good thing to blog about because he was a general of the army then also went on to become the president of the united states.
In the US army Eisenhower was a five star general and a supreme commander of the allied forces during the european theatre of war during WW2. Eisenhower was responible for the for the successful invasion of France and in 1951 became the first supreme command of NATO. During ETOUSA Eisenhower gained his fourth star and gained power and oversaw the Invasion of Sicily and the Invasion of the Italian mailand.In December 1943,Eisenhower gained all stars and became Supreme Allied Commander in Europe.
On Dec, 20, 1944 , as a great honor Eisenhower was promoted to General of the Army equal to the rank of Field Marshal.After the war Dwight D Eisenhower went on to enter the pres election of 1952 and used " i like ike" for his campaign slogan.Eisenhower defeated Taft and procceded to become the 34th president of the united states of america for 1953- 1961
