Tuesday-
Bosnia genocide-
It started in april 1992, bosnian serbs were killing bosnian muslims, About 100,000 died 80% were bosniak, many were forced away from homeland. They called it ethnic cleansing because it was more religious based, so they never really named it a genocide. It was war and killing.
Who was responsible? Serbian general was captured and was convicted of genocide.
Slabadon malevich was a former president he was arrested for war crimes, and he died.
What did the US do about it? Clinton promised to try to put an end to the ethnic cleansing, The Nato created a seize fire and the US had the dimlomatic efforts. People from all of the areas came to the US and talked for about 3 weeks to try to make a peace treaty.
Holodomor Ukraine-
Joseph stalin wanted more power and land, so he took food from people who were not following his orders and gave it to people who followed orders. It was more of a famine. 10 million people died.
There was a lot of cannibalism going on, they would eat their own children. He tried to hide it for so long, the US tried to provide a lot of food for the people that were starving. The UN didn't do anything about it, US didn't do much until later when they found out, they sent out food.
30,000 people died a day.
Japanese war crimes
The chinese and japanese war, troops killed and raped 1,000 of people in china.They piliging, do what they wanted with children and women, and a lot of killing.
Almost a 1000 were raped everyday. They japanese soldiers were responsible. The war just ended, japan surrendered. The US was involved but not involved. They involved food shelter medical care. Japan never officially apologized.
Cambodia-
75-79 pull pot became the leader of cambodia and he came up with a plan he wanted to turn all resources into farming so he they could be an independent country. There was some bombing in some cities, he started to do an evacuation in by the camera rouge, he moved them deeper in the camera rouge, he came up with a plan to eliminated a whole social class. His plan was to starve them, they were going to give only two bowls of rice. He had a lot of people buried alive. 1.17- 3.42 million and then cambodia declared war against vietnam, 3,155 people were killed.
How did it end? The karmarouge went up against vietnam and pul pot was the president and he either got poisoned or committed suicide.
