- People are trying to get Trump disqualified.
Child Labor
Something that deprives them from their childhood, can be harmful to their mental and physical state. Young kids only working for not much, little time for play and education. 215 million children working full-time. Why- pledged by parents, kidnapped, domestic service. Kind of like slaves. Condition- overcrowded, little care, poor nutrition, little pay, hazardous environments. Types- slavery, drug trafficking, prostitution, armed conflict, agriculture, machinery, mining. What's being done- changing the public's opinion, promote free education, bargaining strategies, minimum working age. Biggest problem is in southern Africa. Farms is the biggest problem, second would be children working in factories.
Child Brides
Just like it says. It's usually set up by the parents. They do it a lot to give their children a chance at life. Happens far more often with girls. Sometimes it's because they can't afford to send their kids to school. The parents of the daughter must pay a dowry to the boys family she marries. So most people want sons so they don't have to pay a dowry. More than 30% of girls are married before turning 18. A lot of countries have countries against this, but a lot of the times they aren't enforced.
Radical Islam
Generally a really peaceful religion. Allah is their God. Muhammad is their prophet. ISIS and Al Qaeda are the most common radical Islam groups. Radical Muslims take the term, faith by the sword, literally. They tell people if they don't convert to their religion, then they will be killed. To them, they don't see themselves as radical or as terrorists. Most of the rest of the world would disagree with that. We are at war because of that trying to stop it.
Biodiversity
The variety of life. The more we destroy nature, the more animals and insects that become extinct. The more we grow in population, the more we need to survive, the more of nature we destroy. Medicine causes people to live longer, increasing the population. It doesn't affect only species in forests, also a huge impact on aquatic life. When some species die off, another species greatly increases in number since the other species was it's predators. We also pollute a lot which also plays a huge factor in these changes. People are trying to stop out logging and stop polluting so much. There is also parks and foundations that try to keep certain areas free from being destroyed and polluted.
Ivory Trade
Commercial trade of ivory tusks of animals like hippos, walruses, narwhals, but mostly Asian and African Elephants. It is a stronger tissue very similar to bone. Used for art, jewelry, piano keys, religious items, and other trinkets. It's almost entirely illegal to do now since you have to kill these animals for the ivory. It is greatly decreasing the populations of the animals. Again, especially in elephants. The more the demand the lesser the population of the animals become. They've tried passing acts to prevent people from wanting to poach, but the pay for it is so great that they're willing to take the chances.
Right to Privacy
Right to one's personal information is protected from public scrutiny. Examples: address, phone number, age, date of birth, gender. Major acts passed to help keep privacy: The Privacy Act, The Access to Information Act, Video Privacy Protection Act. Major cases: Griswold v. Connecticut (1965), Stanley v. Georgia (1969), Roe v. Wade (1973), Bowers v. Hardwick (1986), Lawrence v. Texas (2003). Constitutional rights: 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 9th, 14th amendments.
School Shootings
Newtown, Connecticut- Sandy Hook elementary. Roseburg, Oregon. Texas University. Biggest school shooting ever was in Bath Township School in Michigan. 38 children were killed, 50 others were injured. More gun laws won't fix it. Chicago is one of the cities with the most shootings and strictest gun regulations. Prevention: teachers with guns, guards, drills, stricter gun laws, better background checks, get help for people with mental conditions. These attack the second amendment. Most are white males with mental illnesses.
