The Darfur conflict started in February of 2003. The conflict began because the Sudan Liberation Army and Justice and Equality Movement started blaming the government of oppressing black Africans in favor of Arabs. There have been around 30,000 deaths. 1 million people have been moved within where they live. 120,000 people have left and gone to Chad. The killing started because Darfur was afraid that they would not be able to get resources they needed from Sudan. The people that have gone to Chad went to camps. The camps border Chad and Sudan. The conflict is now spreading into Chad. About 30,000 people have died from diseases.People in Darfur say that it is a genocide but however the Sudan government disagrees. They think that the Darfur people are over exaggerating it and its not a big deal. Sudan and Chad have been at war since December 23rd 2005.The United States government thinks we should have more troops there. The United Nations doesn’t agree with this they decided that we should just have troops at refugee camps. Sudan made the Suanesse military attack the African people. Some of the tortures they did to them were mudering, starving, displacing, or even raping the people. I think it is just wrong for them to torture people like that.I don’t really get why there are genocides because I think that everyone should just get along but I know it doesn’t work that way. I think it’s dumb that it all started because of oppressing the black Africans in favor of the Arabs.
