Today Brandon Fitz did his presentation. William Hurst used exaggerated stories to put other people out of business. Coney Island was an amusement park in Brooklyn, New York. Coca-Cola was created in 1885 by John Pemberton. Between 1865 and 1895 you had to go to school for 16 weeks. They had strict rules and punishments. Kindergarten was created and became available in 1940 to everybody. In the 1900s half a million students attended high schools and in 1920 21,6 million students attended high school. African Americans were excluded from high school. Immigrants were encouraged to go to school. Immigrants attended schools at night. In the 1900s college enrollment doubled. In the 1900s industrial development changed colleges. In 1895 Du Bois was the first person to get his doctorate from Harvard.I was surprised that someone would lie and make up stories to get rid of the competition.I also didn’t know that Coca-Cola has been around for so long since it started in 1885.I was really surprised to learn that in the 1800s you only went to school for a short time only 16 weeks.The final thing that I really thought was different was how immigrants had to go to school at night so they could become a U.S. Citizen.
