For my interesting topic of the fifteenth chapter was the WPA. The WPA stands for Works Progress Administration. This administration was headed by Harry Hopkins. Harry Hopkins was the former chief of the Federal Emergency Relief Administration. The WPA was made to create jobs quickly. Over eight years the administration spent 11 billion dollars to give jobs. This group gave jobs to more than 8 million workers. The WPA produced jobs that will have lasting value. It also gave people a sense of hope and purpose. The WPA made special efforts to help women, minorities, and young people.This subject interested me because it helped a lot of people make a living and feed their family. If this administration wasn’t invented there would have been more people starving and on the streets. This group made a big impact on the world. I also choose this subject because it had fit in good with this chapter.
