It was said that he called this new 'breed' of skyscrapers a "proud and soaring thing". The steel framework of this building is what made it appear so graceful and the how it supported both floors and walls. This exact skyscraper soon became AMerica's greatest contribution to architecture. IT was referred to ' a new thing under the sun' by another architect Frank Wright, who studied under Sullivan.Daniel BurnhamDaniel Burnham is known for designing the slender 285 foot tower in 1902, know as the Flatiron Building in New York. This particular building and many others like it served the purpose as symbols of a ricfh and optimistic society.Frederick Law OlmstedFrederick Law Olmsted was a landscape architect who 'spreaheaded' the movement and idea for urban public parks. In 1857, along with Calvert Vaux, they drew a plan for 'Greensward', which is known now as Central Park in New York City. "Olmstead invisioned the park as a haven in the center of the busy city." After finishing the park, its now known for its many features such as boating, tennis facilities, a zoo, and bicycle paths. He designed this park hoping the beauty would sooth the 'city's inhabitants' and let them enjoy its natural setting.Orville and Wilbur WrightIn the early 20th century i believe, the brothers Orville and Wilbur Wright, now known as the Wright Brothers, started experimenting with new engines powerful enough to keep "heavier-than-air" craft 'aloft'. First, they started out as bicycle manufacturers form Dayton, Ohio. Then the Wright Brothers build a glider, adn then 'commissioned' a four cylinder internal combustion engine, had to choose a propeller, and then designed a biplane with 40II4(copyright) wingspan. On December 17, 1903, the Wright Brothers had their first successful flight, at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. It covered 120 feet and lasted 12 seconds in the air. Orville later described the take-off.
