Chapter 10 Assigned Blog

A good chunk of it started basically like this, Mexicans were pissed off and dirt poor.. well sand poor in Mexico would be more suiting, anyway, Mexicans were mad because rich American businessman had shares in Mexican oil wells and basically anything that had value in the real world, this was happening because Porfirio Díaz, the Mexican dictator at the time was allowing polticians, just mostly high up people in Mexico make money off the American investments in the foreign soil in Mexico. In 1911 a bunch of pissed off Mexicans, average Jose's if you will, got together and started to overthrow their dictator government. It was led by a crazy son of a gun named Francisco Madero. Image and video hosting by TinyPic"He's got that crazy look in his eye,"Image and video hosting by TinyPic"I predict it looked something like this, more or less"The crazy son of a gun by the name of Francisco Madero promised his people Democratic reform, but was unable to deliver it to his average Jose's. Only after two years he was overthrew by General Victoriano Huerta, like all good scarface overthrows Francisco was murdered within days.... I know who they should of put in office instead.Image and video hosting by TinyPic"An international icon"Woodrow Wilson got pissed off that the government that was set up by Madero, the mexican overthrower of the previous government for those of you who forgot, President Wilson decided to not recognize Mexico's government calling it a "government of butchers".For a few months President Wilson kept a close eye on Mexico waiting for his chance to enter and slap Huerta with the long hand of the United States. The chance President Wilson was looking for came upon sometime in April of 1914 when one of Huerta’s officers arrested a small group of American sailors in Tampico, on Mexico’s eastern shore. Soon after the sailors were released and an apology was issued immediately. Mr. Wilson used this small almost "who cares" incident as propaganda by making it a 100 times worse then it actually was, as if Mexico stomped a baby kitty, anyway. As a result Wilson went forth with intervening into Mexico by sending Marines into Varcruz, a major port in Meixco. Eighteen Marines died, with an additional 200 Mexicans. The incident got the US and Mexico very close to war, South American countries stepped in, in order to make a deal. The deal was that Huerta would step down without anymore trouble, it was denied by Mexico but later the Huerta regime failed and it was taken out of office. There after Venustiano Carranza became president of Mexico, then Woodrow recognized Mexico as a real government.Francisco “Pancho” Villa and Emiliano Zapata led an underground group, that was against Carranza's government, rebels if you will gaining many many peasants. Villa, a fierce nationalist, had frequently courted the support and aid of the United States. In January 1916 Pancho invited 17 American engineers to Mexico to work on the mines, instead it was a dirty trick and he killed them all on arrival.Woodrow got pissed again and sent 15,000 troops into Meixco to find Pancho dead or alive, with an additional 150,000 national gaurdsmen stationed along the border. Carranza got pissed that Woodrow invaded his borders and sallied forth his own troops and deaths on both sides occurred. Woodrow was determined to capture Pancho but backed down when war in Europe approached and needed troops for that, then called for peace on it's southern border.
