---Tammany HallWilliam M Tweed was born on April 3, 1823. Tweed was born on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. He was born into the nickname of Boss Tweed and the name has stuck with him ever since then. Boss Tweed was elected into the United States House of Representatives in 1852. William Tweed was the head of the Tammany Hall. The Tammany Hall was in New York City and was the city's most powerful Democratic political machine. Starting in 1869, Boss Tweed ran the Tweed Ring, which was a group of corrupt politicians, in defrauding the city. The Tweed Ring was broke apart by Thomas Nast. Thomas Nast was a political cartoonist. My personal opinions on William M Tweed is that he was a very powerful man and had a huge impact on the people of our country. The decisions Boss Tweed made probably made a contribution to shaping our country to the way it is now.
