Today Mr. Bruns went over our assigned blog topic for this week. We then went over the Europe map, and said them with enthusiasm. We talked about a failed state that has no government, and that has collapsed because of natural disaster or a leader taking over. It sometimes happens in states that have no resources, but there are times where a state has good natural resources like diamonds and it might become a failed state. They cannot provide things like police and fire fighters. The people that are in a failed state are constantly worried about things like terrorism. People usually go where they think it is safe, like in the article the light house was it.They have been looking for a government for more than 18 years and some have never lived in a stable state. Some terrorism groups make offers to these people to come and join their group for $150 instead of 2 or 3 dollars a day.TFG is struggling to make ends meet. Ethiopia has been involved Somalia by refugee camps and they invaded Somalia to try to help the TFG. January 2009 they pulled out. Nation building is like when we go in to Iraq and we try to help establish a democracy, and we think it will spread all around. I think that nation building is a good effort to try to help other states. If we leave terrorist will take over, but historically nation building doesn't work so well. They have tried 20 years to build themselves up, but many experts don’t think they can.3Madison
