Do you have any clue why the war of 1812 started? Or even which countries fought? Or who won? The United States had long lingering arguements with Great Britian. What Great Britian had done in the few years before they declared war, was enough to start a war. This war lasted two years til 1814. Noone defeated this war but the U.S. gained respect from the British. The United States began to feel united. Also, This war had a great effect on cotton manufactering abilties for the U.S.
The major reason this was started was because the British wouldnt agree to stop seizing American sailors. Some other reasons for war was when Great Britian attacked USS Chesapeake and almost had a war with them two years before the War of 1812. Great Britian had arguements with the northwest territories and the border with Canada. Also, Great Britian tried to isolate France and thats when the United States declared war.
By reading all of these articles, i know that there are much more little disputes that happened than big ones. This was a memorable war to people because the United States felt like a nation as a result to this two year war even though noone defeated and neither got new territory.
