Glenn Beck held a freedom rally yesterday, August 27, 2010 for people to take back their freedoms the Constitution and Declaration of Independence allows them. Beck drew a crowd that stretched six blocks along the National Mall. He is being criticized for having it on the anniversary date of Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech. Mr. Beck's venue was the same, the audience different, but his message was basically reiterating Rev. King's message of equality and freedoms as an American. African Americans protested Mr. Beck's choice of date saying he was minimizing their moment in history. Glenn Beck had initially thought of using this historical date, had second thoughts, and then went for it realizing his message was the same as Martin Luther King Jr.'s. He stated, "everyone deserves a shot regardless the color of their skin."
