Waging Peace. Fighting Disease. Building Hope” is the motto for Jimmy Carter’s Carter Center. The Carter Center is a non-profit, nongovernmental organization that strives to increase human rights and relieve human suffering. The center was founded in 1982 by the 39th president of the United States and his wife to help improve the lives of people around the world.
“The center is directed by a board of trustees that include business people, teachers, former government officials, and more. These people encourage the objectives and goals of the organization. There are many types of council included in the organization that also help in the success of the organization. The center is located next to the Jimmy Carter Library and Museum in Atlanta, Georgia. The center does what it can to help strengthen the democracy, advance human rights, and promote economic development, as well as preventing and concluding conflict. Many countries and groups in conflict turn to the Carter Center for help in their problems.I think the Carter Center was great contribution to the U.S. It makes many efforts toward people not only in our own country but in other countries as well. They try to aid the countries with diseases such as the Guinea Worm in Sudan and Ghana. The video I am placing with this blog talks a little bit about this incident that the Carter Center program helped with and when he talks about what he expects the U.S. to become is basically what he thinks of the Carter Center.Respectfully Submitted,2Jennifer
