Martin Luther King jr. was born on January 15 1929. He grew up in Atlanta where he went to high school at Booker T. Washington High School. He skipped ninth and twelfth grade to enter Morehouse College. He graduated Morehouse with a bachelor of arts degree in sociology. King then went to Boston University where he received his doctor of philosophy.

Martin Luther King jrs. Main legacy was to secure progress in the civil rights in the United States. King became a civil rights activist early in his career. Later in his career King led the 1955 Montgomery Bus Boycott. He also help found the Southern Christian Leadership Conference in 1957, serving as its first president. In 1963 led to March on Washington, where he gave “ I Have a Dream” speech. That speech raised public consciousness of the civil rights movement and made him one of the greatest orators in United States history. In 1964 King had won the Nobel Piece Prize for his work to end racism. In 1968 King was assassinated in Memphis Tennessee.

I researched Martin Luther King jr. because he did a great job in trying to end racism. He was also an influence to all African Americans.
