Franklin D. Roosevelt set the standards for every president's first hundred days since him. Roosevelt became president at a very bad time and he needed to gain the peoples trust and needed to reassure them that things could and would be fixed. In his inaugural speech on May 4, 1933, FDR said, "This nation asks for action, and action now. Our greatest primary task is to put people to work. I am prepared under my constitutional duty to recommend the measures that a stricken nation in the midst of a stricken world may require." Roosevelt faced an unemployement percent of 25 percent, banks closing and depositors losing their life savings, and businesses going bankrupt and shutting down. Many people doubted Roosevelt because he was a democrat, but he was determined to prove them wrong, and that he did.
FDR passed 15 bills his first hundred days of presidency. Some of the bills he passed I have listed. The Federal Emergency Relief Administration supplied states and local communities with the governments money to help the unepmployed who couldn't get jobs. During the first winter of FDR's presidency, The Civil Works Administration created jobs for people. The FDIC protected banks. The Civilian Conservation Corps offered jobs to unemployed young men. The Works Progress Administration replaced FERA, which put more money into circulation and concentrated on longer projects. The Public Works Administration helped people get jobs like, construction in things like, water systems, hospitals, and powerplants. All of these bills and such were just a minor part of FDR's the "New Deal." FDR really showed how the federal government helps.What Roosevelt did some presidents will never come close to achieving on their first hundred days of presidency. Some people still don't believe it was FDR's experiment, the New Deal that changed the economy, but it was WWII. Every bill Roosevelt passed, and everything his experiment, the New Deal did changed the economy at the time and changed America's future forever I think. WWII obviously was a big part to it too, but Roosevelt was president for part of the war, and he made decisions, therefor I think Franklin D. Roosevelt was the biggest part to America recovering from the Great Depression.
