I did my blog about the USHA or United States Housing Authority. The USHA was mostly used for lending money to states and communities for low construction cost. There were about 650,000 low-cost people that needed jobs. Most of these people were the homeless, and they got the jobs first cause the Gov. of NY could not stand to see people with out homes or jobs. At that time the Gov. of NY was Al Smith. He started the housing programs and that helped the poor and the job less cause they were building apartment type houses and that helped the poor and the homeless got jobs. From 1933-1937 the PWA (Public Works Administration) had built 22,000 new units of housing. The Gov. also saved half of the buildings for the blacks. This did not go over well. This then lead into racially segregated and vertical ghettos.
I think that what the Gov. did for the homeless and the blacks was good! And I think that people need to look past color and all get a long!
