The great society was programs enacted on the United States. President Johnson wanted us to clean up our countries resources that have been poisoned. He said that we need to restore our cities that’s natural resources have been destroyed. In order to do that acts were passed to save the environment. These were some of the acts passed, (wilderness act, endangered species preservation act, national trails system act, wild and scenic rivers act, land and water conservation act, solid waste disposal act, motor vehicle air pollution act, national historic preservation act, air craft abatement act, and national environmental policy act. There were 35 new national parks made when the great society was going on. Most of those parks are in good driving distance of big cities. Lyndon Johnson made the environment healthier and cleaner.
