The attack on Pearl Harbor is a huge conspiracy. No one is certain if Pearl Harbor was simply attacked by surprise or if President Roosevelt did not send warning to the troops stationed there. I will share with you some information I found out about the "date that will live in infamy."
There were many accounts of action by Roosevelt and his advisors that showed not only they were aware of an attack by Japan, but they were planning and instigating the act. Roosevelt knew the only way the U.S. would enter the war was an action against the U.S. by the Axis Powers. He knew Hitler would only declare war on them if he believed the U.S. was beatable.
On October 7, 1940 Lieutenant Commander Arthur H. McCollum wrote an eight action memo. The memo covered eight actions the U.S. could take to that would lead to an attack on the U.S. by Japan. The U.S. completed all eight actions before Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. The main subjects were the sign of U.S. military preparedness and threat of attack and being a forceful control on Japan's trade and economy.
In 1937, Japan sank a U.S. warship in China's Yangtze River and their relations began to deteriorate. Both countries tried to negotiate but Roosevelt presented impossible ultimatums and openly loaned money to the Nationalist Chinese, whom the Japanese were fighting against. There were many key military necessities Pearl Harbor was missing including a lack of training facilities, lack of large-scale ammunition and fuel supplies, lack of support craft such as tugs and repair ships, and a lack of overhaul facilities such as dry-docking and machine shops. Admiral James O. Richardson, Commander in Chief of the U.S. Fleet, was outraged when Roosevelt told him the fleet would be staying on Hawaiian Waters. Richardson knew the vulnerability of Pearl Harbor and was concerned with the safety of his men. Richardson confronted Roosevelt about this and in his doings, ended his military career and was replaced with Rear Admiral Husband Kimmel.I think Roosevelt is the main cause of Pearl harbor being bombed by Japan. He and his men thought of every way they could provoke Japan to attack them so the U.S. could enter the war. Roosevelt's actions were deliberate and straight forward in order to lead a victorious Allied Powers into the war. He and his men are to blame for the lives and property of Americans that were destroyed.~Cora
