Benjamin harrison was born on August 20th, 1833. Harrison was the 23 president of the United States. He served from 1889 to 1893. He was born in North Bend, Ohio. After he got married in 1853 he moved in with his father and finished his law studies and then eventually inherited 800 dollars from his aunts death. Using this money he moved to Indianapolis, Indiana where he became a state polition.When in Indiana he was a part of many different legal clubs.During the Civil War harrison served as a Brigadier General for the Army of the Cumberlands. When the war ended he ran for governor in Indiana and failed. Eventually Harrison was appointed to U.S. senate from Indiana.The republican James Blaine was favored to win republicans but when he wrote multiple letters that showed he wasnt interested in the election all of his supportes divided out to other candidates.As a republican Harrison was elected as president of the U.S. in 1888. He is the only president from Indiana and is most remembered for economic legislation. For reason like the McKinley Tariff and the Sherman Antitrust Act. He was also know for the annual federal spendings that reached 1 billion dollars for the first time. Democrats attacked this problem with this issue and they also used the unpopularity of high tariff to beat the republicans.He didnt accomplish re-election and moved back into his home in Indianapolis and was remarried. He even wrote a book and later represented The Republic of Venezuela In a huge international case against the United Kingdom. In 1900, as part of the case, he traveled to Europe. After that he moved back to indianapolis and a died the year after because of complication in the flu.
