Perhaps one of the most popular battles of the Indians War was "The Battle Of Wounded Knee". The battle took place on the freezing cold day of December 28, 1890. General George Custer's old regiment, the Seventh Cavalary, took over 350 freezing Sioux hostages to Wounded Knee Creek in South Dakota. The soldiers demanded that the Sioux give up all of their weapons, which many of them did not even posess. A shot was fired so the soldiers opened vicious cannon fire upon everyone present, killing many and wounding more. Over 300 unarmed Native Americans were left dead, that included many innocent children. After the Battle, the soldiers left the body's to freeze on the ground and didn't bother to clean up.
The Battle Of Wounded Knee brought the war to a horrible, vicious end. The Battle also brought the end to an entire era of Native Americans.I have heard the name "Battle of Wounded Knee" many times, but di not know much about it. Naturally, I think it was a very vicious thing to do to innocent Native Americans. The fact that it "brought an end to an era" makes me wonder what would have happened if this battle never took place. Of course, we cannot change the past.
