Backlash Buildup on School Speech

This is my free choice blog. The topic is Obama's upcoming school speech, which is to be broadcasted live from a Virginia school nation-wide to schools. Supposedly, the speech is to say to kids that should stay in school, and that just because you are poor or don't have as much money as others, doesn't mean you should just give up. Despite this, many people across the nation are furious that their kids will be exposed to the speech.

They claim to have multiple reasons, one of them being is that they don't want tax dollars funding the nation-wide broadcast. Another says that people are accusing Obama of trying to create "personality cults." Some objections were even political, one man saying, "I wouldn't let my next-door neighbor talk to my kid alone/I sure as hell wouldn't let Barack Obama talk to him alone." They even are not broadcasting it in our school, due to parents alerting our superintendent of their objections. For the most part, it is Republicans against it. I personally think that is very dumb, and a strong message for kids, especially in this time where the US is supposedly behind in education, should be viewed by our school.
