The baby boom was a time in history where the population went up extremely high. The baby boom lasted for nearly for a decade. It happened to the countries of United States, New Zealand, Australia, and Canada. Out of all the Americans today, approximently 77.3 million of them were baby boomers. In the United States, 76 million babies were born towards the end of World War Two to the year of 1957. The major period that people say was the main "baby booming" times, was 1946 to 1964.
Because the war was coming to an end in 1945, all the men and some women that were in the war were coming back to their homes and families. The marrige percentage went up since more couples were able to spend more time together. Eventually they were starting to expand their families. During this time, the Congress also passed the G.I Bill of Rights which offered college education to veterens returning home from war. This also gave them loans to buy homes and possibly start their own businesses.

Not only was the baby booming happening, but also the consumption boom, housing boom, and a labor force boom. This led to urbanization and more people were buying cars and other new things. It was becoming more common for people to become married almost right after high school. The size of families was also increasing too, and people were having more children more quickly. The average number of children in a family was three.

My personal opinions of the baby boom are that it was a good thing, but also a bad thing. It increased our population and those babies would eventually grow up and be put to work which could be a good thing.
