Monday- Talked about more rules. Talk about taking notes. Explain why these rules are put in place. Top 5 events are given extra work time.
Tuesday- We talked about our 7th-grade history reviews. A few people were able to present with some having to present tomorrow.
Wednesday- Mr. Bruns shares his top 10 list to class. Talks about how Native Americas appeared in the Americas. They were thought to have come due to migrating buffalo herds.
Thursday- Native Americans were forced out due to Colonials wanting more land. Killed buffalo for sport. Colonists would take advantage of the natives as well. Columbus and many other explorers had believed that they had found a new route to the Indes. The actually had discovered a new continent. Most people at the time believed that the Earth was round but had no way to prove it. Henry Cabot explored Canada and was the one of the first to do so. Sir Francis Drake went around the world. Making money was one of the goals that many explorers had in mind. British parliament would put many taxes on the colonists. Intolerable acts were put in place after the Boston tea party.
Friday- Charles Gadsden made a flag against the British and is still used today. The First political cartoon in U.S history was of a rattlesnake. There are 3 parts to the declaration. The first part talks about how if the government is toxic then the people should rebel. The vast majority of the declaration was about how the King and Great Britain has mistreated them. The last paragraph was them declaring independence. During the first few years of the U.S being free was quite a mess. The states had more power than the federal government. The Constitutional Convention was set up to change the articles to the constitution. The U.S Constitution is the living document that establishes our 3 branches of government and our rights. The Constitution came about to replace the articles. The 3 branches of government all have checks and balances so that one branch can have more power than the other. The two houses of Congress are the Senate and House of Representatives. Age requirement for Senate is 30 and for House is 25. Congress powers are that they make laws, set laws, declare war, override vetoes, borrow money, regulate international and national trade, print money.
