Mexican American WarThe Mexican- Amercian War was between Mexico and the U.S., we won about half of Mexico-7 states. The war took place because of the Manifest Destiny, which means expand our borders. The most unjustified war we have fought. Mexico thought the border of Mexico and the U.S. was the Neuces River, but it was really the Rio Grande. So when the U.S. moved their forces down to the Rio Grande, Mexico thought we were invading their land and fought back.Lincoln PresidencyTried ending slavery. Made Emancipation Proclamation, try to free slaves in the Confederate states. 13th Amendment ended slavery. The south was worried about Lincoln abolishing slavery because they didn't want to lose their slaves.Civil War1861-1865. Confederates vs. The Union. Union won, more resources/soldiers. Health care was better. Confederates had better Generals. Jefferson Davis, President.Reconstruction1865-1877. Rebuilding of the south after the Civil War. 13th Amendment abolished slavery. 14th Amendment, anyone born in the U.S. , besides Native Americans, were made Americans. 15th right to vote. Blacks, 1960's were finally given rights they should of had. Socially, physically rebuilt. Freedman s Bureau, educate, job train and sometimes give jobs to African Americans. 12 military districts in south, north controlled them. Northerners moved south to control southern government.
