Today in U.S. History, we didnt do blog discussions. Instead, we picked our groups to be in for our powerpoint presentations. In my group is Dena Baughman and Haley Patte. We will each have a section to do seperately. If someone does bad, this will not effect the other people in your group's grade. Our group's chapter and sections are Chapter 7-2, The Challenges of Urbanizations. My assigned part in my section is Urban Opportunities. Also, my assigned blog is the "Voting Restrictions," Chapter 8-3, Segregation and Discrimination.

Voting Restrictions Notes-

-The southern States made voting restrictions and there was no longer equality between them and the African Americans.

-Other states limited only people to vote who could read. (They had to take a literacy test in order to take it first.)

-Blacks were treated differently than whites when trying to vote. Black people got answered more hard questions or given a literacy test that was in a different language.

-One requirement to vote was the annual tax that had get paid before people vote, the poll tax. Basically, the black people were too poor to pay that tax. For whites that either failed the reading test or who couldnt pay the tax, could use the grandfather clause. If those two problems occur to whites, they could still possibly vote if their father or grandfather could vote before the end of 1866.
