Today we did blog discussions...
1. Describe native americans before and after europeans coming: Before- They lived off the land and moved constantly, nomatic. Didnt have namy resources. Europeans brought hourses and metal. NA used everything they could when hunting, Euros wouldn't. Would go to war with each other. Not many diseases, worshiped nature. After- got along for a while, Euros tried moving because of gold rush or other reasons and went to war with NA. Diseases brought over by Euros. Promises about land broken a lot.
2. Describe reasons why Europeans started exploring in the late 1400s: 1000 ad vikings started exploring. Wanted to go to Asia for silks, spices and more things. Went other way to Asia since it was faster and cheaper. Wanted to expand land so they could get money, power, and religion. Better technology alowed them to sail easier and longer.
3. List the major countries that explored the new world and where they settled: Spain, Portugal, England, France,Great Britian, and Netherlands. Vasco da Gama from Portugal, Spain had Christopher Columbus, and American guy who America was named after, Magellen from Spain, Hernando Cortez from Spain. Spain settled in near Florida, Latin America except Brazil, Western part of U.S. France settled near Canada, great lakes, and Mississippi river. English had east coast. Portugal had Brazil.
