Revolutionary War- War between the colonies and Europe

The Constitution- Written at the Constitutional Convention

Trail of Tears- Native Americans were driven away from their land that they owned, many Native Americans contracted cough typhus dysentery, cholera, and starvation.

James Town-Join-stock companies pooled money together to hopefully make a profit

The Thirteen Colonies-Mercantilism is the belief that america was for the benefit of Europe

The great awakening and enlightenment-Period of time where logic was viewed over religion

Tuesday-

Benjamin Franklin- Major Part of the Enlightenment, Flew kite in storm, he was a founding father

French and Indian War- Fight over the Ohio river valley, treaty of Paris, Great Britain claimed Canada and all land east of the Mississippi, proclamation of 1763

Sugar Act- smuggling goods, paid smaller tax= wouldn't smuggle coffee, indigo, certain wines, not paying tax lead to court.

Stamp Act- Tax anything stamped, "Taxation without representation", help send troops overseas.

Samuel Adams- Wealthy merchant, big in politics, part found of sons of liberty, turned patriots against British, scared loyalist.

Declaration of Independence- be a separate nation of the world, men were equal, king abused power, create a government that protects right.

Beginnings of america- set up new government, articles of confederation, march 1, 1781.

James Madison- Proposed Virginia plan legislature based on population, small states opposed, large state power.

William Patterson- proposed jersey plan, single house legislature, equal power.

Roger Sherman- proposed the great compromise 2 houses congress upper house Senate, lower house representatives

the 3/5 compromise- southern states wanted slaves to count towards population for more representatives, 3/5 slave count toward population.

New Government- Legislative, executive, Judicial branches

George Washington- Adjourned Constitutional convention on sep 17, 1787, 9 states needed to approve constitution, federalists and anti federalists, june, 1788, New Hampshire, December, 1791- bill of rights

Gold Rush- California Gold Rush 1848-1855, City of Coloma- James Marshall, 300,000 people Europe, Australia, china and mexico, boom towns San Francisco and Columbia.

Inventions- railroad reduced travel time used a lot for moving goods and troops, and telegraph

Manifest Destiny- Oregon Trail, Santa Fe Trail, Louisiana Purchase, Lewis and Clark, Alamo- Expansion to the west

Fort Sumter- Start of the civil war

Battle of Bull Run- First Real battle of the war, thought they won after battle south

Generals- Robert E. Lee south Ulysses S. Grant North

Battle of Gettysburg- turning point of the war Union won battle and gained an advantage-

Surrender of South- April 9,1865 war ended

Wednesday- 

Foundation of Our Nation- Boston Tea party helped lead to revolutionary war, King George III was leader at the time, lost men in war, 

Indian Removal Act-1830-1839, removal to  territory, west of the Mississippi, wanted more land for crops

Reconstruction- 1865-1877, time period after the civil war focused on rebuilding the states.

Thursday- finished up presentations
