On sunday morning, November 22, at 6:14 a.m. eastern time NASA's shuttle crew was awakened to the playing of the song "Butterfly Kisses", by Bob Carlisle, this song is about a man and his daughter. They woke up with exstatic happiness cheering for the birth of Abigail Mae Bresnik, daughter of astronount Randy Bresnik. Abigal weighs 6 pounds, 13 ounces and is 20 inches long. Her proud father could not make it to the amazing moment of her birth. Instead he was orbiting the earth. Randy Bresnik is apart of the crew for the space shuttle Atlantis which is currently docked at the International Space Station. His mission is to deliver parts to the International Space Station. On sunday Randy and another astronaut prepared for their space walk on monday.Randy had private communication channels arranged in advance for the birth of his daughter. On that day he got on the channels and anounced: "I just wanted to take this opportunity to report some good news." "At 11:00 last night, Abigail Mae Bresnik joined the NASA family, and mama and baby are doing very well." Randy and his wife already have a 3 year old son. They adopted him from the Ukraine about a year ago. Randy was very disapointed he didnt get to see his daughter the day she entered into earth. This was the second time a baby was born to a U.S. atronaut while being in space on a mission. In June 2004, Mike Fincke had a daughter born while he was aboard the International Space Station. It must be hard for Randy to know that he missed the birth of his child. But, if i was his daughter id be proud! (:
