Angel Island- Is the second largest island in the San Francisco Bay area.

It was later a haven for Spanish Explorer, a cattle ranch, and a U.S. Army post, Civil War.

Three thousands years ago it was being served as a hunting and fishing site for Coastal Miwok Indians. Coastal Miwok Indians came thousands of years before anyone else did. Miwok Indians discovered many camps.

The first Chinese entered California in 1848. After that thousands more came. They laid tracks for the Central Pacific Railroad. From 1910 to 1940 the island had hundreds of thousands of immigrants. Majority of them being from China. During the Civil War it was called Fort McDowell and found to watch Confederates. During World War II the Japanese and the German POWs were held on this island. It was also used as a jumping-off point for American soldiers returning from the Pacific.

In 1963, Angel Island was established as a state park and the California Department of Parks.
