encouraging Jewish settlement on the land. For this to happen, the League of Nations granted Britain a mandate which granted these such things to happen. The Arabs were not happy about Jew immigration and the idea came up of parting Palestine; Arabs rejected the idea after Jews agreed.
When World War II was over, Britain locked down on Jewish immigration. They were denying Jews coming in from all over. Survivors from the Holocaust were even turned away with nowhere to go and nothing to there name. But they did smuggle in Jews. Britain was sick of trying to put a handle on Palestine and the Jews and turned it over to the United Nations. They came up with the idea of splitting Palestine into two separate states.
The Jewish community of Palestine basically had a pre-state government already led by David Ben-Gurion. When the mandate over Palestine terminated on May 4th, 1948, Ben-Gurion became the prime minister. After this happened, the Jews were fighting a war against the Arabs.
I honestly thought that Israel was around since way back in Jesus times seeing as that's where all those towns are. Treatment of Jews were terrible enough in Germany, but Israel rejection made it worse. I find this topic very interesting and I doubt many people know about this.
