Assigned Blog- Senator James Inhofe's Speech

Senator Inhofe's speech had a lot of good points to it in my view. When he talked about how the media kept flipping topics from an ice age to global warming, back to an ice age and another global warming it really caught my attention to how much the media messes with our minds.

In general Inhofe's speech was about:

James Inhofe's speech was about how the media is always changing their minds on what is happening to the world. One minute it will be getting too cold, the next it's becoming to warm and we're supposedly to blame for it. He strongly stresses that the media thinks that the slightest change in climate has to do with either global warming or global cooling and that we are all going to be affected by it if we don't do something about it. Inhofe refers to many articles that had been published years ago that had the media trying to decide on whether warming or cooling was happening. He says that much of the information that had been released about global warming is only giving the views that us humans have a lot to do with it. Senator Inhofe also talked about Vice President Gore's film "An Inconvenient Truth" and, as he says, "a summary" of the misleading things that were included in the film.

My opinions:

I think that Inhofe has a lot of true information. In one part of his speech he talks about how people in the media say that if you change your ways of living to help the environment it will stop global warming. Inhofe said that sure, it's a good thing, but there is no way that it will completely stop the climate from changing. I found that rather interesting. I think that the media does mess with our minds and trick us into thinking that if we change our ways of living that the world will become a perfect place. I do believe that using alternative energy and stuff is going to benefit us, but, unfortunately, it won't make everything all better. To me, at some points in the reading it seemed like Inhofe kind of was saying that he was totally right and the media is just feeding us a bunch of nonsense. Global warming is an issue, no doubt, but it doesn't appear to me that too much has really been affected. Overall, the speech really got me thinking about how much the media stretches things. Inhofe had a lot of things that really caught my eye and got me thinking.
