Rwanda is located in central Africa, and is bordered by Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, Tanzania, and Burundi. Hutu, and Tutsis, which are two groups that live in Africa are very much alike, they both share the same language, traditions, and some live in the same area. Obviously there differences were far greater, because in 1994 there was an estimation of over 5,000 thousand to 1,000,000 killed which is twenty percent of there population. This genocide, which is an ordered killing of group, lasted 100 days from April 6, to somewhere in mid July. This is not the only conflict between these two groups, there have been many disagreements over the years that have lead to killings of many people.Most say what set this mass murder off was the killing of the Hutu President, Habyarimana, which most say that the Tutsis shot down his plane. Most of the people that died during this time were the Tutsis. Many blamed the head leader of the Tutsi for causing this happening. Whoever was responsible for this though, the killing didn’t stop for at least 3 months. How this all started to boil about was in the early 1990’s the Belgians came over and declared that the Tutsis were better than the Hutus. Which lead to better things for the Tutsis, like better jobs and things. This caused outbreaks and riots between the two groups. Then the Hutus started forming a group called the Rwadan Patriotic Group (PRF), which they planned to kill Habyarimana and dominate again. In August 1993 Habyarimana and (PRF) signed a peace accord, but it didn’t work. No one is sure who killed the President and brought this horrible thing about.The PRF found Kigali, and they said to stop any armed fire, and agreed with one and other to stop it. The government completely collapsed and the Hutus people fled to Zaire. My opinion is I wished we could have stepped in and stopped these two groups from fighting and killing all these people before it led to this.
