This week for the assigned blog we were suppose to watch a World War 2 movie and summarize it. As usual I watched the movie with Austin Mumm and Austin Cuddie Hudson. As a goup we watched the movie God on Trial. This movie is based on a true story is kind of like a documentary. The movie begins when a tour bus full of poeple pull up to Aushwitz. The tour guide leads the group around the camp until the scene moves to a bunch of prisoners in a barrack.
In the barrack a doctor comes in and selects different men to enter the gas chamber. As the men leave for the gas chambers one prisoner begins to think why us? why would god do this to us? What did we do to deserve this? He then states that god should be put on trial. The group then proceds to create a court consisting of three judges, Head of the Court, Father of Court, and a questioner.
Every prisoneer has a different believe of weather god is on there side or not. One man, Kuhn, said that Aushwitz is nothing more than a test of their faith. Another told stories of how when the Nazis came they shot the elderly and took the rest to concentration or death camps. Some said that Aushwitz is a punishment but no one could think of any crime that would fit this severe of punishment. The men all went back and forth some stating god was on their side others said he was evil and unjust.
The trial was suddenly interupted by a Nazi officer who bolted through the door. The officer took a few prisoners and shaved and tattoed them. When they returned they resumed the discusion. The judge finally sumed up the discussion by stating that no one knows what god has in store for them and that all you can do is believe and trust that he is doing the right thing. The next day all of the prisoners were sent to the gas chambers.
The movie ends this the tour group standing in the same gas chamber that the prisoners died in. I thought the movie was ok but nothing to special. It was kind of boring having no actions what so ever. God on Trial really did make me think though. I dont know what i would have thought if i was in the same position as one of the prisoners. Over all i am glad i watched this movie.
