Daberkow Side

My Grandpa Daberkow’s maternal grandparents came to America from Switzerland in the early 1900’s. His grandpa Ernst Mohl came earlier and then saved up enough money to send home to his fiancée Louise to join him. She lost her ticket over to America and went back home to get the ticket. She arrived to the dock late and her ship, the Titanic, had already left for New York. She arrived in America three months later. They moved to a farmstead in Nebraska.

Frederick and Helena (Peters) Daberkow were my Grandpa Daberkow’s paternal grandparents and they moved to the United States with their children. After moving to the United States, they had another son who is my great-grandpa.

My Grandma Daberkow’s maternal grandparents, Augusta (Luebker) and William Westerhold moved to the United States as a young married couple from Germany and settled on a farm in Nebraska.

Max and Sophie (Schroeder) Vogt, my grandma’s paternal grandparents moved to America with their families as children. They met each other in Pender, Nebraska and later married to raise their own family.

Cheek Side

My great-grandparents Pauline (Garner) and Doyle Hudson were born in the United States as second generation English immigrants.  They were both born and raised in Fordyce, Arkansas. Grandpa Doyle was high school friends with Paul “Bear” Bryant.

My other great-grandparents, Oscar and Marie (Powell) Cheek, had families that had lived in the United States for generations after immigrating from England. My ancestors were mostly of English decent with some Cherokee.
