Defiance
Defiance is a film based in the World War 2 time frame in which the German forces were killing all jews and they couldn't be stopped. This film released in 2008 was written, produced, and directed by Edward Zwick. It is based on a true story of the four Beilski partisans who saved a bunch of Jews in Kresy, Poland in World War 2. These jews fought through horrendous conditions. They fought through minimal amounts of food, horrible sickness, brutally cold weather conditions, and the constant struggle to survive. They called themselves the Bielski Otriad. They were led by Tuvia Bielski(Daniel Craig) and Zus Bielski(Liev Schreiber).

Zus and some other soldiers of the Bielski Otriad have decided to join forces with the Soviet partisans because they feel that they have a better chance of survival. After a long and crappy winter the Bielski Otriad discovers that the Germans are planning an attack on their camp. Asael(above right) leads a group to stay back and slow down the German infantry and Tuvia leads everyone else through the woods and into a marsh. Only Asael and one other person made it out alive out of the group that stayed back. After everyone crossed the marsh they were suddenly attacked by ground troops and a tank. Tuvia and another guy ran into the forest to the side and shot up most of the ground troops, but the other guy with Tuvia died as he was attempting to throw a nade by the tank. I thought that everyone was gonna die, but then Zus and the other soldiers of the Bielski Otriad who left to fight with the Soviet partisans came out from behind the German ground troops and killed all of them. It was an awesome scene.

I would recommend this movie to anyone who wants to see an inspiring film and wants to gain some good knowledge of the conditions some Jews were under and for someone who likes war style films.
