Assigned Blog 8

The assigned blog for this week is to do research on the Treaty of Versailles and answer the following 3 questions.

1. Define what the Treaty of Versailles was.
2. Describe what the Treaty specifically did.
3. Do you think the Treaty of Versailles helped lead to World War II? Explain.

1. The Treaty of Versailles was a peace treaty that was signed on June 28,1919 at the conclusion of World War 1 and ended the battle between Germany and the Allied Powers. It was signed five years after Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria was assassinated, but it wasn't put in effect until Jan. 10, 1920.

2. The Treaty put full blame on Germany for the start of World War 1 and it would make them pay for war reperations to certain countries. The money owed were estimated to be over 33 billion dollars. The treaty gave certain land in Germany to different countries, such as: Eupen and Malmedy to Belgium, Northern Schleswig to Denmark, Hultschin to Czechoslovakia, and West Prussia, Alsace-Lorraine to France, Posen and Upper Silesia Poland.

3. Yes, in fact i believe that the Treaty of Versailles did in fact play a major role in leading to World War 2. Pretty much blaming everything on Germany ended up being a huge mistake, because that just ticked the Germans off and then Hitler came to power and pretty much killed everyone if they didnt have blonde hair and blue eyes.
