I did my weekly blog over Malcom x since it is black history month. Malcom x was born in Omaha, Nebraska which i found surprising because it seems like nothing interesting ever happens out here except 4 feet of snow. Malcom was born May 19, 1925. Malcom faced many difficult situations growing up. By the time he was 13 he didnt have any parents left. His father had died and his mother had been put in a mental institution. The small amount of time that he had with his father he spent talking about black and self pride.
After living in a series of foster homes malcoms life took a dive. he became involved in hustling and other small crimes in New York City. he was sentenced 8 to 10 years in prison. After his parole in 1952 he became a huge speaker and spokesperson in the nation. for almost 12 years he was the public face of the nation of islam. Many people criticized him for preaching racism and black supremacy but most historians nowdays say different. After a tension grew between him and the leader of Islam he left the Nation of Islam. (which was a organization as much as a country i found out after a bit of confusion.) The Head of the Nation of Islam was going against his own teaching, in which he had affairs with 6 women at the same time. After leaving the nation of Islam in 1964 he traveled to Africa and the surrounding area of middle eastern countries. He then founded the black nationalist Organization of Afro-American Unity. Less than a year later Malcom was assassinated while giving a speech in New York City. Malcom X assassins had all been members of the Nation of Islam and had been ordered to kill him but had failed on multiple attempts.
