This movie is about an 8 year old boy named Bruno. Their family moved from Great Britain to the countryside by a concentration camp in Berlin, because his father was a Nazi officer. Bruno loved his dad because all of the great things that he did for people. Bruno saw a video over all the great things that his father had done for people but it was actually a lie. Being new, he didn't have any friends and became really bored. Bruno was told not to go into the woods near his house, but he did anyways. He met a boy, the same one he had saw outside of his window one day. He began to wonder why he wasn't allowed to be around these people. He talked to the boy for awhile. The boy wore blue striped pajamas. His name was Schmuel and he learned that he was never fed a lot. Bruno knew that he shouldn't spend too much time with the boy just in case his mother would find out.
The two boys played everyday. One day Bruno brought Schmuel some food. He then got caught with it. Bruno lied about it to save Schmuel from being in trouble. One day Bruno went to meet Schmuel and he was really upset. Bruno didn't know what happened. Schmuel explained that his father was missing. Bruno wanted to help him find his father and asked him to bring a pair of the pajamas he had on the next day. When they met again he had the p.j.s and Bruno dug a whole under the barbed wire fence. They searched the concentration camp.
They couldn't find him anywhere. Then they heard sirens go off and got pushed into a small building that was very crowded. They were asked to take their clothes off so they could take a bath. They were actually going to be gassed to death. Bruno's mother noticed that Bruno had been gone and then contacted his father. They went searching for him and found his clothes and the whole he had dug to get into the camp. Bruno's dad heard the sirens and they realized it was then too late.
I think that this was actually a good movie. But, I cried a lot. I think that the father got what he deserved but it was really unfortunate how it had to happen like that.
