Valkyrie:
This movie is about a plot to overthrow Adolf Hitler and the German Government. The movie starts in a German army base, there it shows Colonel Von Stauffenberg. Colonel Stauffenberg is talking to another man about his plan that if he could assassinate Adolf Hitler he would be able to switch Germany to the Allies and end the war. As he is telling his plan a tank in the background begins to shoot. When Stauffenberg turns around he sees two fighter planes coming toward his camp, he takes cover but it does not matter. He was injured and lost his left eye, his whole right hand, and two fingers on his left hand.
After Colonel Stauffenberg is released from the hospital he began to work his way into the top of the army. First he gets Hitler to sign his revised Operation Valkyrie procedure. He would put the operation into effect after he killed hitler. In the operation he changed a couple things, he made it so that the German Reserve Army would arrest government officials so that he could take over the government and switch them to the Allied side.
He would assassinate Adolf Hitler by placing a bomb under the table while Hitler is briefing the officials on how the war is going. At the first briefing one of the guys that he wanted to assassinate along with hitler was not there so they did not place the bombs. The second briefing is when they laid there bomb. After the bomb went of Colonel Stauffenberg and one other general fled the scene and hopped in a plane to initiate Operation Valkyrie.
After initiating the operation the army began to arrest Nazi Officials in Berlin. They had many of them arrested, and when they got to one of the last officials he called and got connected to Hitler. Everybody thought that Hitler was dead until he talked to one of the army officers and told him that he was alive and to arrest all of the people involved in this. The army shut down the operation and arrested and killed everybody involved in the assassination attempt, including Colonel Stauffenberg. This was the last of 15 assassination attempts on Adolf Hitler.
Review- Overall I think this was a pretty good movie. It was kind of hard to understand what was going on at first, but as the movie went on it began to make more sense. I really liked how the movie showed the perseverance and loyalty to their country that Colonel Stauffenberg and his men showed throughout the movie. The thing I didn't like about the movie was that after we found out hitler was alive we never got to see him again, so it kind of left us hanging a little. Another thing I liked about it was at the end it told some quick facts about the war and the plot against Hitler.
