I would give this movie a 4 out of 5 stars
For this assigned blog i watched the movie Enemy at the Gates. It was a movie portraying the battle of Stalingrad during world war two and the hardships.
It starts with the main character vassili zaitsev, a russian soldier who's role in the war as a sniper have become legendary. But When vassili and his comrade political officer Danilov both fall in love with a beautiful female soldier, named Tanya, danilov deserts Vassili right when Vassili has to face his biggest challenge yet... a Nazi elitist sniper. As the city of Stalingrad burns Vassili and Konig (the german sniper) begin a game of cat and mouse. Both fighting for honor and country. In the end Tanya is injured by shrapnel from an artillery shell and Danilov gets so mad he goes and helps Vassili in a crazy way. Danilov sacrifices himself to give off the possision of the german sniper Konig and by doing so it gave Vassili the edge he needed and Vassili killed Konig. After the fight Vassili searches the medic wards looking for Tanya because he did not believe she had died, and he was right. He found her recovering and thats how the movie ends.
The movie did extremely well in showing how stalingrad tolled in the battle of stalingrad and how in the end the fight became more about honor than the city for the city had been reduced to rubble. I particularly like how they portrayed the hardships of the russian soldiers throughout the battle of Stalingrad and how snipers made the difference in the war. Although there were down sides to the movie such as some historical facts that were off it was a good movie and for that i rated it a 4 out of 5 stars.
