Assigned Blog #14- Robert Sturges

Robert Struges, an officer of the Royal Marines, is very unheard of. He severed for royal military and navy from 1908-1942 when he retired. In 1908 he joined the Royal Navy. Although in 1912 he transferred to the Royal Marine Light Infantry. During World War One he severed in two major battles. One was the Gallipoli Campaign and the other was Battle of Jutland.

In 1940 he became the General officer commanding the Royal Marines Division. This was the branch of the Royal Marines that was created in the first few days of World War Two. This division was to specialize in amphibious attacks. But never was really used as its intended rule and was ended in 1942. But during its time of service Struges lead a few battles one being the battle of Madagascar and occupation Iceland. The battle of madagascar. was a battle to capture the fort that was located on Madagascar because there was suspension that it was being used to store Japaneses ships and submarines.

Then in 1942-1945 he severed as a Aid-de-Camp to the king which is the same as a personal assistant. During this time he also severed as a the general officer in command for the Commados and Secret Service Group. Which is a group like the US secret services. Then in 1946 he retired from all lines of duty.
