Assigned Blog #11- Pearl Harbor

Pearl Harbor happened on December 7, 1941 on an island in Oahu, Hawaii. This was the day a carefull planed and well exacuted plane went into effect. 353 Japense air crafts attacked in full force and within a few minues five of the eight american battle ships docked at Pearl Harbor were sunk or sinking. Over 2,400 Americans were killed and many others were injured.

This attack on Pearl Harbor came in two waves. The fist plane hit its target at 7:53 AM and the second plane nearly an hour late at 8:55 AM. Lasting on two hours the attack on Pearl Harbor was over at 9:55 AM.

Supprisingly not everything at Pearl Harbor was compleately destroyed. Air craft carriers, submarines, and fuel oil storage facilities came out unharmed. These tools helped lead the Americans to a victory at the Battle of Midway. They also helped the Americans compleatly destroy the Japenses Empire four years later.

The Japense hoped that the attack on Pearl Harbor would give them time to make better and more advanced ships. Obviously the consequences of Pear Harbor was major destruction and loss of life. I can not believe something like this could happen. It happened so quick that we probly didnt know what to do. I mean it only took two hours for the Japense to kill nearly 2,400 people, injure many more, and to destroy Pearl Harbor. It is just terrible that this had to happen.
