Fury, based in WWII, is a story about soldiers who fight in the war in a tank. As the war is getting nearer to the end, this crew must go farther into enemy lines to cut the Germans off and stop their advances. They are accompanied by other tanks and their crew while the sergeant of the tank “Fury” is the platoon leader. They first have to make it past the German’s first defense. This is where the youngest and newest member of the crew, Norman, receives his first experiences of war. Then they reach the town they must capture. After they regroup, they move on to where they must stop the Germans. But on the way, they are ambushed by an enemy tank and every tank but Fury is wiped out. The only ones left in the platoon, they move on until the tank hits a mine and they cannot go on. While they are in the process of fixing the tank, an army of 200-300 enemy soldiers are marching towards their location. As soon as they discover this, they prepare for a battle of a lifetime to hold them off. The closely knit crew fight heroically together until only Norman, the rookie, is left.
I personally enjoyed this movie for many reasons. One reason I liked this movie was how close the crew of the Fury was. They have fought together so long and have been through so much together that they have become a family. When it gets to the end, they would rather die together than run away like a coward just to live another day. They have each other’s backs and watch out for each other. During the final battle, they work as one to stop the Nazis from advancing and their leader, known as Wardaddy, helps spare Norman’s life because he knows he deserves to live longer. Their actions and words describe very well how much they care for each other and how much they respect each other. Another reason I enjoyed it was because how accurately it depicts war and all of its horrors. It does not sugarcoat how gruesome and deadly war can be and how life was like on the battlefield during WWII. The film shows how deadly and violent war is. It also shows very well how hard the war was on people’s lives and emotions. Every one of them experience emotional moments and are affected by how unforgiving the war is. Norman is especially affected because he had never been in combat and didn’t know what to expect. All while they were leading up to going into battle, Norman was worried and afraid of what could happen. Even Wardaddy was affected and had to take a moment to himself every so often to let the emotion that did not show on his face overcome him. The physical and emotional hardships of the war are shown very well in the movie. Overall, I very much enjoyed this movie. It was full of action, emotion, and excitement. I would recommend this movie to anyone who like war movies or action movies.
