Why did we get attacked?
Some people may think that al-Qaeda went on a rage, and just decided to come attack the U.S. for some unknown reason. That is not the case tho. Al-Qaeda was a group started out by Osama Bin Laden to help push the Soviets out of Afghanistan. It turned into more than just that. The U.S. had been causing Osama Bin Laden a lot of issues in the Middle East. The U.S. was trying to help out Middle East countries by fighting with them, which continued to make Bin Laden mad to the point where he could no longer take it.
Osama Bin Laden thought that the United States was corrupt and dishonest about money and ways of doing things. In one situation, Iraq had invaded Kuwait and Bin Laden helped protect Saudi Arabia from being invaded. During this time, the US had attacked Iraq and invaded Saudi Arabia. Then, Bin Laden thought it was betrayal of his own country so he spoke out against Saudi Arabia and the U.S.
Another incident that happened, was again in Saudi Arabia After the Gulf War was over, some of our troops stayed in Saudi Arabia and continued to fight with some “after war situations.” Bin Laden thought that the United States should not be allowed on Muslim holy land because it is not their land. He also believed the the U.S. was too involved in the Middle East, especially Saudi Arabia.
The last event that triggered al-Qaeda to attack us was being allies with Israel. Israel and the United States are major allies and so lots of Muslims, including Osama Bin Laden hate us. Bin Laden was eventually kicked out of Saudi Arabia after attacking the United States while we were in the Middle East. This really triggered Bin Laden and caused another event with them.
Al-Qaeda had attacked us during wars and they had declared war on us several times before. But, one thing that they had never done was attack us on our home land. The United States had not been attacked on land since Pearl Harbor so this will be in history forever. Osama Bin Laden’s plan was to attack us and then planned on us staying out of the Middle East. He was wrong. We now have more troops in Afghanistan than we did before and it also costed his life because he was found and killed on May 1st, 2011.

Great summary! In your first paragraph, you say we invaded Saudi Arabia. That's probably how bin Laden saw it but Saudi Arabia allowed us to be there after Iraq invaded Kuwait.
