Iron Curtain Speech- was a speech given by Winston Churchill discussing the Soviets occupation of eastern Europe and their desire to expand.
Domino Theory- One communist win means a lot of communist wins.
Policy of Containment- A US policy created to stop the spread of communism.
Truman Doctrine- America will help any country that is threatened by communism; mainly Greece and Turkey
Marshall Plan- US paying to help Europe economy after World War II.
Brinkmanship- letting a situation to become extremely dangerous in order to get results.
Massive Retaliation- A strategy of military counter attack that involves the use of nuclear weapons.
Mutual Deterrence- the state of importance with military presence and if needed use nuclear weapons to defend the country.
CIA- An agency that investigates and gathers security information through human intelligence.
KGB- The former Soviet Union police, found in 1954
Peaceful Coexistence- countries to agree to be in peace rather than hostility
De-Stalinization- Forgetting anything and everything of Joseph Stalin.
Detente- The easement of tension between two sides in either a negotiation or agreement.
Perestroika- Restructuring of the Soviet Communist Government during 1980's
Glasnost- A policy for opening and discussing of economic and political realities.
Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty- Used to try and prevent the wide spread of nuclear weapons but it could still be used for energy.
SALT- SALT I and SALT II were agreements that were signed by U.S and the Soviet Union. They intended to restrain the arms race in strategic and ballistic missiles armed with nuclear weapons.
Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty- To ban nuclear testing absolutely everywhere.
Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty- The US and the Soviet Union signed the ABM Treaty as part of an effort to control their arms race in nuclear weapons.
Missile Defense System- Type of defense to black missiles from us.
