korean conflict the forgotten war: 1950-1953, korea was invaded and ruled by japan for 1910 to 1945- after ww2, korea was split in two- north korea(ussr) and south korea(us) at the 38th parlellel the untited nations held an election in 1948, the soviet union refused to allow participation in the election zones/ kim was able to to manipulate both mao and stalin into supproting their invasion of south korea, june 25, 1950 north korean forces invaded the south, the invasion of south korea  came as an surprise to the united states, united nations voted to send troops to help south korea. us, great britian, france, china and the soviet union were memmbers of the united nations security council. basically  north korea pushes south korea all way back to pusan and then the us helps and pushes north korea all way to the border then china helps north and then the south korea with help of us pushed  little over the parallel line.
